I just felt compelled to write you a note of thanks.

After being medically discharged from the Army in the 90's following a leg injury, I was at a pretty sad crossroads in my life, when I watched a documentary in the early hours of the morning in the UK, that charted your Iron man.

I remember crying more that night than I have ever done in my life! It made me realize that no matter what life throws at you, you can still do whatever you want. it just takes a little more effort and a truck load of determination. So that's what I did, I found a direction, and more importantly my spark I picked myself up and built a career, and more importantly a family. For the complete inspirational story

MILLIONS OF WOMEN played this leading role. Audition lines can be as long as ten blocks. Despite the long lines, many women managed to make it through the audition landing the role. This role requires a demanding and dynamic performance, willing to work on it for hours and days on end. It requires depth and flexibility to perform the role well. Yet, millions and millions of women came into this role every year. For those who do not know what it is, it is the role of a mother.

Raquel, the inspiration behind Charice. I applaud both Charice and her mom’s indomitable courage and strength. Mommy Raquel single-handedly raised Charice and her brother Carl.

“Si Mommy, mentor, tagahanda ng damit, taga-makeup. My mom’s a superwoman!”. - Charice

The 38-year-old Raquel, from whom Charice got her singing voice, advices Charice to focus on her goal. Mommy Raquel and Charice battled incredible odds to arrive where they are right now. Imagine at the age of three years old, Charice witnessed her father choke her mom then grabbed his shotgun. Fortunately, neighbors overheard their screams and broke down the door in the nick of time. Charice narrated her heartbreaking story on the September 9, 2008 episode of Oprah, then added:

"We left my dad and after that, I never saw him and I don’t want to see him. I’m just singing now for my mom. I couldn’t help her before, that’s why I want to help her now."

Charice and her Mom is indeed role model to anyone struggling and recovering from the pain of a traumatic past. I admire their determination, spunk and energy and not to mention their humility.

In the Rated K interview last year, she tells other Filipino children who are struggling:

" I’m not very different from them. That’s also the same experience that I have gone through. There will be a time when you think of giving up, because you’re tired, but don’t, if you’re really holding on to that dream. Because if that’s really your dream, and you persevere, you will surely reach it."

What a girl!

Some may attribute her success to a YouTube clip uploaded by a fan that eventually led to her guestings in popular US television shows Ellen Degeneres and Oprah. But for Charice, credits should go to her mother Raquel.

“Super po akong humahanga sa kaniya,” said Charice,

noting that although her mom was a single parent, she was able to support the needs of their children. For this, Charice lovingly dedicated her newly released second album entitled My Inspiration to her mom, in time for the upcoming Mother’s Day.

“For Mommy po ang lahat ng ito. At pati na rin po sa lahat ng mommies sa buong mundo, lahat ng mommies na naghihirap para sa anak,” -Charice

Charice told the entertainment press at the launch of her new album, which features 12 revivals including Wind Beneath My Wings and the mother-daughter duet You and Me Against the World.

The connection between mother and child is the one of the most sacred and intimate bonds one can experience.

Her love for her mother and her desire to use singing as a means to help her mother was the driving force that led her to conquer all disappointments and frustrations making her determined to be better at what she does best – sing. LOVE AND INSPIRATIONS FROM THE MOVIE:

As I was watching Meet the Robinson's, I couldn't help but think of the lessons they were teaching and how these lessons are the similar lesions that adults have trouble following or remembering.

1. Failure is acceptable and you learn more from failure then from success.
2. Surround yourself with positive supportive people. (Maybe not live with them, but that wouldn't always hurt.)
3. Its always best to continue to "move forward" no matter what happens.

Procrastination sometimes revolves around being afraid of failing and not succeeding on the first try. Also there is a serious stigma on failure. Your seen as a failure in a negative context. This judgment does no good other then to make the other person feel bad and sometimes make the judge feel superior. I personally believe (and others believe this as well) that any thoughts or feelings that are not (a) positive and (b) not producing some sort of action (moving forward) is a waste of time. I know we can't always control these feelings and thoughts, but we can control our actions to a point. Being mindful of our actions, thoughts and feelings help us control the sometime chaotic thing that is us. I'll blog more on judgment and mindfulness later.

Having positive or like minded people around you is part of the key to success. You can't always go it alone. We all need a support system of others. These people are sometimes so close they feel like family or are actual blood relation. We adopt them into our families and they adopt us into theirs. A good support system will get you through almost anything. Finding these like minded people is not always that easy though. We have to have a open heart and mind and be ready to accept them. They can be found many places; work, church, local groups, even online as other people have found.

Never stopping moving forward, is the main theme of the movie and it all surrounds a quote from Walt Disney which is shown at the very end of the movie.

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” –Walt Disney

This can be taken several ways. I'm going to focus on two of them. Stopping and giving up after a failure is a natural response that everyone has. It take time and practice to get over it. Even then you still may have the lingering feeling that you failed in a negative factor. It turning that feeling into a positive that's the trick. YEAH I FAILED! is what we all need to start to thinking and believing. Only from failure do we truly learn. You can learn by ROT, and by lectures, but the "School of Hard Knocks" is where we really get the best benefits. You learn more about yourself, your process, the project your working on, and what the outcome is from that particular action you performed. You don't stop there either, you move forward and relook at the failure and figure out what went wrong, then fix it and try again. Repeat as needed.

The other way "Moving Forward" can be taken is that once you succeed, another natural act is to stop and revel in the success. Its best to continue with that motivation, positive attitude and keep going on to either the next project or next action. I always like to have more then one project going at once. I never have nothing to do.

Simon is a 12-year-old dwarf child in a small New England town who is convinced he is destined by God for great heroism. Well and good, but Simon (Ian Michael Smith) gets into trouble like all prophets and disciples do, by not keeping quiet about his faith, to the consternation of everyone who hears his squeaky little voice declare his belief in God’s plans for him, and his contempt for their shallowness. He's not even above interrupting the minister in the middle of the parish announcements, "If God's made the church bake sale a priority, we're in a lot of trouble!" Needless to say, Simon does not win many friends—he's a freak to most children and a bafflement to adults—even his own parents treat him with disdain.

In spite of his difficulties, Simon stays positive. He is humbled and puzzled by the destiny God has for him. He is a loving friend and is especially protective of "little" children (those half his age and twice his size). He's also a normal boy beginning to go girl crazy. This not only leads into side-splitting comic relief, but shows us the greatness of the heart in that tiny body.

Joseph Mazzello (The Cure, Jurassic Park) brilliantly plays Joe Wenteworth, Simon's best friend—a well-mannered, likable child, but also an outcast, known as the town bastard. Joe knows that his father is alive, but his mother refuses to tell him who that is. When Joe’s mother (and Simon’s mother figure) is killed in a freak accident, finding Joe's father becomes a high priority for both boys. Joe and Simon's friendship is one of the most moving childhood friendships on film since Stand by Me. The friends are inseparable, and lean on each other heavily, as they swim, dream, play and cry together. Joe protects Simon, and challenges his convictions. Simon in turn, helps Joe with his anger and pain, and challenges his doubts. - Jon Zuck

All in all, this is a well-made movie with a valuable lesson. "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1. I suggest the reading of Hebrews 11 for a deeper understanding of the faith portrayed through Simon Birch. - Chris

All in all 'Click' is a good comedy, with great lessons to take away with you after viewing. You should treasure the mundane things in life; cherish them, because you only get to experience them once.

The movie will make people realize that the bad times are worth living through because good times lie ahead. If you don't pay attention to the little things you love in life, like a daughter, or a son, or a beautiful wife, things some people take for granted, you may lose them. It's one way of telling us that people we love are the one's we always take for granted because we know that they will be with us no matter what. Our family should be our first priority over everything else. Are you aware that if we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days? But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. It makes you understand that so many people don't realize what they have until it's gone and "Click" drove this message into your head with it's almost tragic ending. See this movie, you will be changed.

This feel good movie can be inspiring to a lot of people who have abandoned their dreams because of lack of opportunity or because of age. The movie shows that commitment, determination and hard work are pivotal factors for the fulfillment of goals. One must be ready for the challenge when the opportunity comes. The importance of warm, loving human relationships to success is also clearly shown. When Morris is agonizing over his decision, his wife's support is crucial. The baseball team and the townspeople are all encouraging and their feeling of pride in their townmate's success is heart-warming. The magnanimity of Morris in his hour of success towards his insensitive father reveals the heart of a true hero; no bitterness, no rancor, only love and forgiveness. In the movie, baseball is a metaphor for life.

It takes as much to win a game as it does to win in life.

About New Year Resolutions

GROWTH

How about to the people already accepted Jesus Christ? Are we growing? I believe this coming New Year is the best time to evaluate our Spiritual Life and be serious about it.

Measurements can be indicators of growth. And it's a good idea to measure our spiritual growth. For instance:

Do I spend time reading God's Word and talking with Him each day?
Do I look forward to fellowshiping with the Lord?
What "fruit of the Spirit" is apparent in my life?
Do I talk about Jesus with people who don't know Him?
How am I using my spiritual gift or gifts?
Do I have a generous and giving spirit?
How much better do I know God today than I did a year ago?
How tall and strong are you in God's sight?
How much have you developed this year?
These questions are good indicators of spiritual growth.

A child seems to grow up all of a sudden, but it's actually a continual process. Just as Jesus grew in both wisdom and stature, we as believers are to continue to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). We are no longer to be children, but to "grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ" (Eph. 4:14-15). Have you measured yourself lately? — Cindy Hess Kasper

Each year it seems that Christ's birth is acknowledged less and less during the Christmas season. An editorial in a British newspaper stated, "Christ has been detached from Christmas, and the season is now apparently just a time for being kind and ensuring that no one is lonely."

We have a magnificent opportunity to spread the good news that Jesus is the reason for the season. Here are three perspectives on the true meaning of Christmas that we can share with others:

* Christmas is a birthday celebration, honoring Jesus. God's Son took on human flesh and "dwelt among us" (John 1:14).

* Jesus came for our sake. He was born to die on a cross for our sins, and He was resurrected to give us forgiveness and eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

* We can urge people to respond to Jesus with faith, accepting His offer of salvation (John 1:12; 3:16).

This time of year is more than just a season to be kind. Christmas is about Jesus—the real reason for the season. So let's take the opportunity to tell others the miraculous story of Jesus, God's Son. And let's pray that many, like the wise men who came to worship the promised Savior (Matthew 2:1-2), will seek Him and find Him this year. — Joanie Yoder

Pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. --James 5:16

When we pray for others, we become partners with God in His work of salvation, healing, comfort, and justice. God can accomplish those things without us, but in His plan He gives us the privilege of being involved with Him through prayer.

When we intercede for a grandson in trouble, a mother having surgery, a neighbor who needs Christ, or a pastor who needs strength, we are asking God to provide for that person what we can't provide. We are acting as go-betweens, asking God to direct His power in a specific direction.

In his classic book titled Prayer, Olan Hallesby described how it works: "This power is so rich and so mobile that all we have to do when we pray is point to the person or thing to which we desire to have [God's] power applied, and He, the Lord of this power, will direct the necessary power to the desired place."

This assumes, of course, that we are praying "according to [God's] will" (1 John 5:14). Prayer is not a magic wand for satisfying our own wishes, but it's an opportunity to work with the Lord in accomplishing His purposes.

James told us that "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much" (James 5:16). So let's humbly and earnestly pray for one another. — David C. Egner

Comedian Henny Youngman used to say, “I’ve got two wonderful children—and two out of five isn’t bad.”

When children reach adulthood, most parents have an opinion about how their offspring have “turned out.” Some are proud of everything their kids have done, while other parents express misgivings or disappointment about the choices their children have made. How can we continue a positive parenting role after the birds have left our nest?

In 1 Corinthians 13, often called “the love chapter” of the Bible, Paul writes that the greatest gifts of speaking, understanding, and sacrificial service are worthless without love (vv.1-3). Love itself is the foundation of winsome behavior, and its influence never ends. “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails” (vv.4-8).

When our children no longer seek our advice, they still value our love. In every stage of parenting, it’s not only what we say but what we do that counts.

The Day God Died

On April 8, 1966, the cover of Time magazine asked in bold black letters, “Is God Dead?” The lead story described the work of several theologians who no longer held to traditional concepts of God. They were alike in concluding that the God of our fathers had not survived the dawn of evolution and birth control.

The debate that followed wasn’t as much about God as it was about us. We were in the middle of a turbulent decade. Our world was changing. An unpopular war in Vietnam was prompting bumper stickers that said, “Question Authority.” Science and technology were improving our lives and making us less aware of our need for a supernatural God.

Other reasons to believe God is dead. Challenges to the traditional view of God multiplied in the decades that followed. Not all were secular. Consumer fraud in religious broadcasting subjected the God of the Bible to public ridicule. Promises of “blessings for dollars” associated the name of Christ with “get rich quick” or “get thin fast” scams. Most recently, evidence of clergy abuse surfaced in the public media. With these reports came stories of victims, who, because of their abuse, no longer considered the God of the church a live option.

Those enlightened by science or disillusioned by religious leaders, however, are not the only ones talking about the death of God.

The Bible also talks about the death of God. The God of the Bible was so deeply moved by the harm people do to one another that He actually died because of it. At a moment in time, the eternal God closed His eyes and stopped breathing. Under the weight of wrongs that had hurt those who were dear to Him, His body fell limp and lifeless. At that moment God was dead—not just in the perception of others, but in real time and in an actual place.

In making this claim, the Bible goes far beyond the cover and pages of Time magazine. Instead of asking, “Is God Dead?” the theology of the Bible leaves us with a mystery that is beyond human comprehension (1 Timothy 3:16). The Second Person of a three-in-one God became a real man to die a real death for us (Philippians 2:5-11; John 1:1-3,14).

As this unparalleled drama unfolds, physical death was not our God’s greatest sacrifice. Even before breathing His final breath on a Roman cross, He endured the hellish darkness of spiritual separation from His Father in heaven. As the skies darkened in the middle of the day, His anguished cry echoed through the halls of heaven and history: “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46).

According to the Bible, our Creator endured such an agonizing death to show us that He is alive and that He loves us.

What the death of God tells us about ourselves. Those of us who are inclined to think of ourselves as victims, rather than offenders, might conclude that Christ’s death probably says more about the evil of others than about ourselves. We can always point to someone we think gave us an excuse to respond in an unloving way.

We get a different picture, however, when we look more closely into the suffering of Christ. If the Bible is right, He didn’t die just for someone else’s sins. He died for us (Romans 5:8; John 3:16). The pain He endured says volumes about the extreme nature of our own need (Romans 3:10-20).

Anyone who wants to be included in Christ’s death must admit that in God’s eyes our own wrongs rise to the level of those who violate federal law with capital offenses. The extent of His sacrifice says that without His intervention we would still be condemned lawbreakers, without hope, and waiting on “death row” for what the Bible calls “the second death” (Revelation 20:14; Romans 6:23).

How the death of God can help us find a new life. The Scriptures offer no hope to those who refuse to believe Christ suffered for them. The Bible offers a whole new life, however, to those who believe that Christ lived and died as their substitute. Like persons who enter a witness protection program, those who find refuge in Christ take on a new identity. Their troubled past is hidden in Him (Colossians 3:3). They assume His name. They receive His Spirit and become temples of the living God (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19).

Those who allow the Spirit of Christ to be seen in them are an antidote to the opinion that “God Is Dead.” Their happiness and tears become a quiet showcase for the love, and joy, and peace of a God who is alive and reaching out to others through His people. No one does this perfectly. But few things are needed more than imperfect, troubled, grateful people who are growing in their willingness to let Christ live His life through them (Romans 8:11).

How can we come to that surrender? We can begin by watching Jesus our Lord move through the Garden of Gethsemane to the center page of human history.
